The Cambridge and District Trades Council is organising to send a delegation to Calais on the 17th October as part of a national convoy of trade unionists and anti racists.
We are primarily collecting money but will take as many other items as we can (sleeping bags, tents, food, toiletries, warm clothes etc). Our trip will also be to build political links with those in Calais.
We want to show that workers in Cambridge stand in solidarity with the refugees and migrants. They face ongoing police harassment and many other difficulties, particularly as the winter draws in. They should be treated as human beings, not demonised as a “swarm” (as David Cameron did) or as “marauding” threats (as Philip Hammond did).
